Building Self-Esteem

Through this workshop we will explore the power of self-affirming thoughts, develop and practice the art of self-talk, develop an awareness of how to increase one’s self-esteem, minimize self-doubt and maximize positive self-talk. In addition, we will cover skills to practice when feeling down or hard on ourselves, and activities that can be done daily to encourage and build self-esteem.

Drug Awareness for Youth

Grief (Art Therapy)

This workshop is designed to examine each of the five stages of grief in greater depth and check in with ourselves and our emotions at each stage. Art therapy is used to encourage self-expression through painting, drawing, or modelling. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN ARTIST TO DO ART THERAPY. Grief is accompanied with various intense emotions which can be difficult to express. Art therapy is a useful tool as it allows individuals to express their emotions and thoughts. Through this workshop, you will be able to understand the 5 stages of grief, know and understand what grief is and how it can affect us, and understand how art and expression can help in the grieving process.

How to Create Healthy Boundaries

In this workshop we will cover topics including the definition of boundaries, the importance of setting boundaries, barriers to setting boundaries, knowing the difference between healthy and unhealthy boundaries, understanding other’s boundaries, and building the skills to create and believe in our boundaries. This workshop will cover the types of boundaries including physical, emotional, material and more, and is designed to help young adults understand and support boundaries.

Social Media Education for Youth

In this workshop we will cover all things social media. Some of the apps, websites, and resources available to youth and young adults (good and bad), the dangers of social media, the benefits and costs of using social media, and ways to protect yourself while using various outlets. This workshop is meant to educate people of all ages on what to look for, and how to use social media platforms appropriately and safely. We will also explore the positive and helpful resources out there, should people need access to help in various ways.

Stress and Anxiety: Exploring the Difference

In this workshop we will explore the difference between everyday stress and anxiety. We will look at understanding the signs and symptoms of each, coping skills to help ourselves and others, when and who to ask for help, and skills that can help tackle the stresses of everyday life. We will discuss skills that can be used anytime, anywhere. In addition, this workshop will cover possible causes and triggers of both stress and anxiety and knowing when to identify these in ourselves.

Parent and Caregiver Support
Location: Stewart and Betty Fisher Family Room at Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre

This workshop is delivered over two sessions and is designed to help parents and caregivers who are interested in developing new communication skills and becoming more informed about the issues youth face in today’s society. The workshop will cover topics ranging from communicating with youth, building relationships, substance use, managing stress and more. In this workshop we will discuss common struggles and ways to support and help youth, as well as supporting ourselves.

Navigating Today's Sexual Culture
